Synopsis...

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Review...

Well, what can I say, this book deserves more recognition than it has now! I'm not saying it should be Twilight/Harry Potter famous but people should know about the Mortal Instruments series!! This book was so easy to get into! Once you pick it up, you're hooked and you can read so much at a time. I read the majority of this in a week in France. Reading by the pool, sun beating down with a MI book, perfect:) This book combines romance & mystery with abnormal creatures such as vampires and werewolves. The storyline is nowhere near cliche and is completely original. To be quite honest, I prefer this series over Twilight and maybe even Hunger Games because of how unpredictable the plot is and the quirkyless of the characters. Speaking of characters, Clary is our main girl, we discover her and her friend Simon in a nightclub, Pandemonium, in New York. She spies an odd boy with bright blue hair and is enticed; she follows him. Clary sees that two men with weapons are closing in on the blue haired boy, Clary warns Simon but he is unable to see the men. Clary follows the boy into a spare room where a girl and two boys stood facing the blue haired boy. They killed him. They were shadowhunters. Shadowhunters are a breed of people who can only be seen by people who have the sight; the job of a Shadowhunter is to kill demons. The main storyline is about Clary's search into the Shadow world and their discovery of an evil man plotting against them. City of Bones is the first installment in The Mortal Instruments series of 5 books with a new release in 2014. I score this book 5/5 A*! Fantastic!!!!
